Reigning Best FIFA Women’s player Lucy Bronze and 150-cap England veteran Jill Scott are among the nominations for the Women’s Super League Barclays Player of the Month for February.

They are joined on the four-strong shortlist by Reading star Natasha Harding and Brighton midfielder Aileen Whelan.

Manchester City are the WSL’s form team at the moment and Bronze played a crucial role in the sky blues winning all three of their February games and extending their winning run in league fixtures to eight games since the start of December.

The England right-back opened the scoring for City in a comfortable 3-0 win over local rivals Manchester United, with the club also victorious over Arsenal and Birmingham.

Harding’s Reading were also undefeated in February and the Wales international opened the scoring in an important win over a Manchester United that had only lost once in the WSL prior to kick-off.

Harding later turned provider as the Royals drew 1-1 with Everton in their next game.

Scott was in top form for Everton in February, the same month she became only the second ever England player, male or female, to reach 150 senior international caps, captaining the Lionesses in a 6-0 thrashing of Northern Ireland.

Scott helped Everton go unbeaten in February to lead the WSL’s ‘best of the rest’ and even scored the winner in a 3-2 win over Tottenham to conclude the month.

Whelan was on the score-sheet for Brighton in their extraordinary win against Chelsea, with the Seagulls inflicting a first WSL defeat on the reigning champions since January 2019 and ending an astonishing run of 33 league games unbeaten.

The 29-year-old netted again only three days later to score the only goal of a 1-0 victory West Ham, ensuring a perfect month for the club and putting considerable daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Fans can vote for the winner until 12pm on Monday 8 March
