Germany machines Bayern Munich are not willing to allow the duo of Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba to represent their respective countries in the UK during the international break.

Germany has strict coronavirus protocols that would see players in Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 quarantine for 14 days upon returning from a ‘mutation zone’ nation. Scotland are set to take on Austria at Hampden Park on March 25th while England host Poland at Wembley on March 31st.

“If it remains the case that the returnees from England have to go into quarantine, we will not be able to put Lewandowski down,” Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said to a German news agency Sport-Informations-Dienst.

On Friday, Hansi Flick also insisted the club will not agree to let their players leave, “We will not agree. If something changes, though, we’ll support that.”

Lewandowski could however feature for Poland when they face Hungary and Andorra because those countries are not on the German government’s ‘mutation zone’ list. Teammate Alaba will be available for Austria’s games at home to the Faroe Islands and Denmark.
