A majority of visitors are well aware of East Pass. It’s next to the Destin Harbor marina, which is famous for having the Largest Private Charter Fishing Fleet in all of North America! The “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” was established here starting in the 1850s by an enterprising New Englander named Leonard Destin. He settled on this location as East Pass was the only opening into the Gulf of Mexico from the bay between Panama City Beach and Pensacola. The cornucopia of fish found here is due in large part to the fact that East Pass at Destin marks the nearest point to deep water fishing on the entire Gulf.
