Newcastle United are on the brink of sacking manager Steve Bruce after details emerged of furious training ground bust-up.
Bruce has always elicited divided opinions from the club fans and despite having steadied the team this season, there is a chance he might be forced to wave goodbye to the team even before the end of the season.
The Daily Mail reports that the former Manchester United defender has lost the dressing room something that has seen them slump down the relegation zone. It is alleged that the manager had a bust-up with Matt Ritchie, where they both barged into each other with the player supposedly called him a coward.
The issue started after Bruce blamed Ritchie for his part in Wolves scoring in their recent clash, and the fallout went from there as the Scottish international then refused to go and see Bruce in his office. There’s also talk of a WhatsApp group where the players openly mock Bruce, while a group of senior players are also furious with the manager for his refusal to take responsibility for anything.
The report however indicates that Ritchie has since apologized to the team and the coaching staff for his action and it remains to be seen if the issues surrounding the coach and players cost the former his job.
