The producer/DJ formerly known as Worthy today releases the single ‘Love & Give’ and reveals the new era of her career attaching ‘Mz’ to her name. Out now via Dirtybird, the bouncy, euphoric spin on traditional house marks a major moment for the artist as she embarks on the long awaited next chapter of her life.

As one of the original Dirtybird founders in San Francisco, Mz Worthy has played everywhere from sweaty basements to massive festivals like Coachella and Burning Man, all while repressing feelings of gender dysphoria. Having the strength and courage to speak to those people she trusted most in her life about what she was feeling and experiencing, she came to realization that she is transgender, something she conituned to keep private for the past few years.

After almost 20 years of being in the spotlight, Mz Worthy came out publicly as transgender via social media in 2020. All while continuing to play socially distant Twitch shows and undergoing physical transformations, she continues her transitions in the public eye, bravely moving her life forward in the direction she knew it was always meant to be.

A deeply personal track, Mz Worthy remarked “‘Love & Give’ is a message that I wanted to give to the world. That we all need to love ourselves and to give that gift to ourselves. So many times we look outside of ourselves for love when what we need to do is find that love from inside.”

“I wanted to launch my journey as Mz Worthy with ‘Love & Give’ because this song has such a strong message of accepting who I am. I am finally accepting myself after hiding from myself. The addition of ‘Mz’ to my name is a symbol of me finding my femininity and of me loving and giving myself this gift”, she added.

Looking back on the release of her debut track ‘Irst Te’ via Dirtybird in 2007, debut album Disbehave in 2014, and launching her own label Anabatic Records, the release of ‘Love & Give’ serves as a full-circle moment for Mz Worthy. After years of hiding, the release marks a turn in her life, feeling worthy of self-love, and becoming a light for others in the LGBTQ+ community.

“For most of my life I have had this name Worthy, but I never felt like I was worthy. I am finally finding that self love and worthiness and I want everyone else to feel that too,”  she says. Feeling like her most authentic self, Mz Worthy has a new found relationship to DJing, connecting with her music and her audience like never before, and cultivating intense positive energy and an energetic dance floor camaraderie.

This Thursday Jan 27th Dirtybird will be hosting a special release party for ‘Love & Give’ via The Birdyverse (Dirtybird Flight Club’s Web 3.0 digital music & art venue) with sets by Mz Worthy and special guest Baby Weight.
